'The Library' - Oil Pastel Rubbing - 27 x 35 cm (10.5 x x 14")
Oil pastel rubbing of original wood assemblage using handmade Japanese Washi paper, made from 100% Kozo (Mulberry) fibre.
This Washi Paper is the finest handmade Japanese paper available, made from Kozo (Mulberry). Kozo is a cultivated plant used especially for paper and cloth making. With long fibers, 100% Kozo papers are strong and durable, used commonly in conservation & repair, woodblock and other printmaking.
***
This artwork one of a kind. All these pastel rubbings are individually produced by the artist. Paper is placed over the wood and various colours of pastel are applied ('rubbed') over the surface of the paper.
***
This rubbing is made from an original “Wood Assemblage” artwork by Laird Campbell. Laird's wood assemblages are abstract and suggestive compositions made through the manipulation of geometry by piecing together numerous various-sized pieces of wood.
